Change isn’t always good. We still don’t even know if many of the most recent changes at Newcastle United have been a success. But they do feel good. They feel fresh. Things feel renewed, rejuvenated.

If we feel it, the players will, too. And some are showing it. Others aren’t. A season in the life of a football club, I suppose.

NUFC change - individual vs the manager

While Eddie Howe was at the helm, he was lauded as a ‘development demon’. The man who turned water into wine. And he did at times. Joelinton was sour grapes but ended up bubbling over at Wembley like a bottle of Moet & Chandon. Dan Burn became an England international, Alexander Isak - if only briefly - an image of the best striker on the planet.

But for every success story there was a failure. And some of them are showing that now. Joe Willock, Yoane Wissa, Anthony Elanga. All three transformed under Matthias Jaissle when Howe could not get a tune. Lewis Hall’s been outstanding under both, while we’re still yet to work out what Jacob Ramsey really is.

So, how much is down the individual, the manager, the system? How much credit does Howe deserve and Jaissle, too? Is development lineal, or can it wave off course but for a good teacher? All the above themes explored in the latest offering over on Inside NUFC YouTube.

Big NUFC reveal - why the long face?

Also on the agenda in the video is the reaction to the recent NUFC full rebrand.

We’ve all seen the badges - this isn’t about that. This is the new St James’ Park rebrand - and I have to say, I’m just not sure what all the (negative social media) fuss is all about?

Sandro Tonali never wanted to be anywhere near Newcastle United, did he?

I mean, you only had to look at his face when he was being shown around the stadium and training ground after signing from AC Milan.

A face like a smacked... Aye, you know the rest.

Well, now the player has departed for Tottenham Hotspur and got off to a rather unconvincing, far from £100million worthy, start to life in North London, his agent has been shedding some light on the deals - the one which brought his client to England, and then again become the most expensive Italian transfer ever when heading to Spurs.

Speaking on the Italian sports podcast Colpi Da Maestro, agent Beppe Riso has shone a light on how sad Tonali was to swap the San Siro for St James’ Park.

“The first move was because we had the feeling that it was a different Milan,” said Riso of Tonali’s thoughts on his boyhood club. We definitely should have seen the signs, eh?

“I know Milan inside and out, Sandro thought about it.

“He understood he wanted to join that kind of football, the Premier League. Sandro was intrigued by that choice, even though he was the captain of the Milan team that had won the Scudetto.

“It was extremely difficult for him, but he was a visionary; little by little, he got the hang of it, and then he established himself.”

Riso continued: “It was a crazy move in terms of the noise, the numbers, and the responsibilities.

“I explained things to Sandro, I made him think, and I took responsibility. It turned out to be the right choice, even from a personal perspective, even though cycles end and we decided to leave.”

On the move to Spurs, Riso said Roberto de Zerbi was key to the deal - although he does reference a rather questionable meeting. Tapping up? Nah, surely not.

“After Newcastle, Tottenham showed they’re choosing differently; they’re courageous,” said Riso.

“Tottenham was reborn after the end of the season; Tottenham survived, and De Zerbi came to the house, telling him they needed him as a leader. The relationship with De Zerbi carried a lot of weight.”

Newcastle United are back - and so too is their experienced midfield duo of Joelinton and Nico Gonzalez.

But Fabian Schar was absent, so too a whole host of players the Magpies will hope to have back post-international break.

The Magpies opened their doors to the North East press pack this week, allowing special access to training and a breakfast meeting with head coach Matthias Jaissle.

But what did we learn about the team, Jaissle and more? Check out our ‘behind the scenes’ video, featuring special shots of training, over on the YT channel.

Newcastle United have got a decision to make - to stick or twist with Joe Willock.

Over on the Inside NUFC YouTube channel we look into the contract call the Magpies must make with Willock - and why that might have to be sooner rather than later, with Besiktas lurking ahead of the January transfer window.

Should United offer a new deal? Would Willock sign it? Or should they look to let the former Arsenal man leave? Every angle under the microscope.

Twenty two players. Seven games. One Inside NUFC average rating per player.

One player who squeezes into the top three is a real shock, having flipped his NUFC narrative, while a couple of summer signings - high profile ones - miss out on the top 10 altogether.

Lewis Hall has addressed his Newcastle United future. In an open, frank and honest assessment England’s best left-back made it clear that he wants to stay at St James’ Park. And he want’s to stay long-term, too. But, and here’s the catch, that want to remain is conditional.

In order for him to remain, the club must match his ambitions. Yes, I know, we’ve all been here before.

Should we be concerned about his latest talk or should we relax given he’s just penned a new five-year deal? Is this not just what you expect from top pros, even if they come from Newcastle-daft stock? We took a look over every word of his recent interview on Inside NUFC YouTube.

And it’s fair to say - we think it’s time for NUFC 2.0 to ensure it does not make the same mistakes as 1.0.

Can the problem for Newcastle United, also be a solution? That’s the dilemma facing head coach Matthias Jaissle right now.

This summer Jaissle added the second most expensive right back in the world - in the last window - to his ranks in Amar Dedic, and had England international Tino Livramento on the books. The last thing you’d think he needs right now is another right-back, right?

But in Lewis Miley, the Magpies might well have one just as good as the two just mentioned.

It’s not a disaster of a problem for Jaissle, but it’s certainly one worth considering, especially with Miley’s best performances in black and white coming from the right. It’s a conundrum discussed on Inside NUFC YouTube.

All things told, it’s been a reasonable, if far from pretty, start to life at Newcastle United for Matthias Jaissle.

Results have come, grit has been shown, resilience tested. Eight points is no bad return from a set of fixtures the Magpies garnered only four from last season.

It got me thinking - is all of the negativity fair? And would Eddie Howe have been treated the same - or different to the Jaissle analysis. All of this, and more, explored over on the Inside NUFC YouTube channel.

Newcastle United bounced back after their Leeds United debacle with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Hull City.

For 20 minutes it was joyous, for another 40 after that controlled, but the final 30 left a lot to be desired - even though circumstances and context most definitely need to be taken into account.

Here’s the Inside NUFC YouTube review of the encounter at St James’ Park, in which we pick out the stars of the Jaissle era so far.

Newcastle United take on Hull City on Saturday - and head coach Matthias Jaissle has called for a reaction from his players.

And the fans need one, especially after Monday night’s Elland Road disappointment. However, one thing in his, and his players’, favour is that there is a need for patience this season - Jaissle has warned of ups and downs, common with a squad so young.

This weekend, though, three points is to be expected, no matter how much turmoil filled United’s summer, and the start the Tigers have made on their top flight return. Let’s hope they can deliver - we could all do with a positive result before the long, three-week international break.

Over on the Inside NUFC YouTube channel, we take a deep dive into the press conference proclamations of Jaissle - and pick our XI to beat Hull this weekend. Spoiler - it probably won’t be the one that Jaissle fields.

This was the week where reality bit Newcastle United. It might well bite a few at Elland Road, mind.

The Magpies were taken apart by Daniel Farke & Co and performance struggles finally married together with a result, following on from a quite remarkably achieved five unbeaten.

So, taking all of that into account, is it time to panic at NUFC? Or should we all just relax a bit and accept that in this era of transition, some patience may well be needed. We discuss the topic on the Inside NUFC YouTube channel.

That was a horror show for Newcastle United at Elland Road. Let’s not hide from the uncomfortable.

It was four for Leeds, going on seven or eight - and while the Magpies bagged a consolation, they deserved nothing from their trip to Yorkshire.

The biggest kept secret in North East football eventually became reality - news of Lewis Hall’s new five-year Newcastle United deal is out.

And, it’s about time the England full-back was rewarded for his near meteoric rise up the ranks on Tyneside. From big-money fringe man in his first season, to the best in the business as we sit here right now. Hall is now, after some high-profile exits, the jewel in Newcastle United’s crown.

Matthias Jaissle has been looking ahead to Newcastle United taking on Leeds on Monday - but he couldn’t help but look over the past, too.

Jaissle says there’s room for improvement from his XI, but also the same can be said for referees. Jaissle was yellow-carded in the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth at the weekend while encouraging his players. And he’s highlighted the fact that his peers do the same yet there is no similar punishment. We all know who he is talking about!

On Inside NUFC’s YouTube channel we look over what we learned from Jaissle’s latest Newcastle United press conference. Here’s the best of what he said - including the veiled dig at Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta.

Again, it wasn’t pretty from Newcastle United, but progress is progress.

The Magpies edged through to the last 16 of the Carabao Cup thanks to a Joe Willock strike at Millwall. And while it was another game unbeaten, and welcome progression, there’s still plenty of questions yet to be answered by Matthias Jaissle’s Magpies this season. Inside NUFC was at The Den last night to watch on as pink-clad United struggled, at times, against the Championship outfit. And here’s what we thought about the encounter - including who stood out and the one player who really did not cover himself in glory.

Newcastle United are at Millwall in a throwback League Cup encounter in South London this week. Unbeaten in four, it’s been an unexpectedly positive start to life on Tyneside for Matthias Jaissle, especially considering the difficult summer that was.

But as quickly as it can build, this is football, momentum can shift in one decision, one tackle, one goal. So, in reality, getting knocked out isn’t an option for NUFC - not if they want to keep riding the crest of the Jaissle wave.

In our Inside NUFC YouTube channel, we take a look at the huge calls in front of the head coach, including between the sticks. Surely there can’t be a recall for Nick Pope? We’re past all of that, aren’t we? Well, we’re about to find out.

From two goals down, strikes from Harvey Barnes and Jacob Ramsey made sure the Magpies continued their unbeaten start to the season under Matthias Jaissle.

Over on the Inside NUFC channel, we’ve done a full review of the game from St James’ Park - and it’s fair to say one player stood head and shoulders above all others, and even came of the Newcastle bench.

Finally, the day is here. Last week you got the website, then the Facebook and now it’s time dive right into Inside NUFC with Liam Kennedy on YouTube.

In the launch addition, Liam talks about all things transfer window and poses the question whether the Magpies actually did win it? I know, it is a cringey term.

Win, lose or draw - whatever your feelings - there’s a definite sense of excitement about the late window arrival of Matias Fernandez-Pardo, who came in for around £51million from Lille. However, Liam says fans might just have to wait to see him, especially with the player having not got 90 minutes in his legs since May.

And finally, Liam looks ahead to the visit of AFC Bournemouth to St James’ Park. So often a bogey team, hopes are high the exit of Eddie Howe will see the hoodoo leave with him.
