Matthias Jaissle admits he’s in love with Tino Livramento, but the Premier League opener will come around too soon for the full-back.
Livramento was pictured back in training this week for the Magpies, having missed the whole of the summer due to a calf problem - an injury which forced the 23-year-old out of England’s World Cup squad.
And speaking ahead of the St James’ Park clash against Liverpool on Sunday, Jaissle revealed everyone will have to wait a little bit longer to see the England defender back for the Magpies.
“It’s for sure too early,” he said.
“He had just one training where he was partially involved, so we need to be smart with his progress now. We can’t wait until he’s 100% ready.
“He has huge potential, I love him, and we can’t wait to have him back, but we need to wait until he’s 100% ready.”
It remains to be seen whether the Chelsea academy product, linked heavily with Manchester City in recent seasons, will be available for Newcastle’s Carabao Cup second round game against West Brom on Wednesday, August 26.
One player who will definitely not be available is new vice-captain Joelinton.
The Brazilian has not been seen for the Magpies since the friendly loss to Everton at Murrayfield - and while not going into too much detail on the actual issue, Jaissle fears it will be a medium-term absence for the combative midfielder.
“Yeah, he’s for sure out for a couple of weeks, but I don’t want to go into too much detail, as there will always be specialists involved,” Jaissle said.
“The medical department is aware of it, we have top staff when it comes to that, and I’m really confident that he will be back as soon as possible.”
